Herod Philip II - A Herodian Tetrarch
Herod Philip II, better known as Philip the Tetrarch, is not to be confused with his brother, Philip I (also Herod II), who was not a tetrarch. A tetrarch is one who rules over 1 of 4 parts of a kingdom.
Philip the Tetrarch ruled over Iturea and Trachonitis in the northeast portion of Herod the Great's kingdom. He later married his niece Salome whom requested (and received) John the Baptist's head on a platter from Herod Antipas (Philip's Brother).
